Happy 21st Namibia!

March 21, 2011 marks 21 years of Namibia's independence.  The country is still so young, but is certainly developing.

One news article I read said: "Namibians must of course be proud, that the country has a clear and visible international identity, renowned for peace, human security and stability."

Many of the Namibians and even other Africans we've met have told us that they honestly believe Namibia is one of the best, if not the best, African country to live.

Since it was asked, Namibia doesn't have a pledge but it does have a (sung) national anthem.

Namibian National Anthem
Namibia land of the brave
Freedom fight, we have won
Glory to their bravery
Whose blood waters our freedom
We give our love and loyalty
Together in unity
Contrasting beautiful Namibia
Namibia our country
Beloved land of savannas
Hold high the banner of liberty

Namibia our country
Namibia motherland
We love thee

I think it's safe to say that all of us volunteers easily know the anthem by heart, and have known it since training.

  1. Do the schools have a "pledge" to the Namibian flag?
