At least Smokey the dog is standing by. (One hole is our trash pit, and the other is Patches'! Maybe he was trying to help.)
It is also common to burn the tall wild grass in areas where people live or walk through as a precaution against snakes. Sometimes it seems like it can get a little out of control, but we guess it's acceptable since no one else seems to be as concerned as we are at times. This is what's left behind.
What can we say? Such is life.
Is this a Kevin responsibility burning the trash, or a shared duty? Don't feel bad, we burn our trash too, always after a rain, except take jars, cans & newspapers to local township building for recycling. Wish the smoke would keep away our woodland creatures. With 3 different sized cages, we captured 6 chipmunks, 5 raccoons, a squirrel & a skunk recently, all on our patio.
ReplyDeleteBurning stuff is so much more fun than putting it out for the trash men or recycling! : ) We burn everything paper, so that leaves a lot less for the recycling bin and trash cans. The chickens all come running to see what we're doing as we head for the burn barrel with a load of boxes and paper. They don't stick around too long when they see we're not giving out treats! It's really nice in the winter to stand near the barrel and enjoy the warmth. And of course, poking burning stuff is great entertainment!
